Well now, it’s been quite a week. I recently surpassed 100 posts and it really caught me off guard actually. I started this blog to better myself as an aspiring writer and it turned into something else entirely. I’ve kept up the pace of one post a day which has been fairly easy since all I do in my spare time is watch movies and write about them. This blog has been one of the best things that’s happened to me and I can’t wait to see where it’ll lead me. By far the most rewarding aspect of my film website is getting to meet each and every single one of you. I love conversing, at times arguing with you guys and having the chance to read up on others opinions of cinema. I can assure you that I am in this for the long haul and I hope it just continues to grow. The truth is, every time I see a new comment, like, or follower, I beam with joy. I adore meeting fellow cinephiles and I hope those I know and for the ones still to come, the best of luck.

Okay, now that the mushy bit is through, let’s get into some movie news shall we?

First and foremost, the thing that has been weighing the heaviest on me is the abundance of negativity streaming from Cannes over Only God Forgives. I literally cannot believe it, or maybe I just refuse to. Apparently the film was booed and received numerous criticisms over its violent, vulgar, and highly vivid imagery. Not to mention that the most disconcerting aspect of the film was Ryan Gosling’s short and sparse dialogue. Personally, I don’t have a problem with these traits and I absolutely adore Gosling and Refn. Nonetheless, it is rather unnerving to hear such terrible things over such a highly anticipated film. I think we should lighten the mood, things are getting a bit melancholic over here. Next up, we have a couple of images from two highly anticipated returns, one from television, the other from the big screen. First up, a rather seductive look at Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique from the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past. I don’t know about you but, this pic is enough evidence for me to check out the sequel to 2011′s successful prequel First Class.

Following that up will be difficult, but I think I’ve got something just as riveting. The first image from on the set of Sherlock season 3. While it may not be as serious and complex as the show itself, it does show the immensely serious Benedict Cumberbatch lightening up a bit.

Finally, a slew of trailers made their mark this week and a few of them really grabbed my attention. First is the hotly anticipated directorial debut for Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Don Jon. JGL will also be starring in the picture alongside the radiant Scarlett Johansson. Check out the trailer below.

Next up, a very obscure and dim look at Ben Wheatley’s follow up to Sightseers, A Field in England. I don’t really know what to make of this trailer yet, all I know is that I’m excited to see the film.

Lastly, the first trailer for Ain’t Them Bodies Saints starring Casey Affleck, Rooney Mara, and the hugely underrated Ben Foster. Garnering positive reviews out of Cannes, David Lowery looks to have created an award season contender.
