The Gushing Cinephile: August 12, 2013
This will be a rather brief edition of The Gushing Cinephile. That being said, it’s all about quality not quantity and the contents of this post is as juicy as any other! So let’s get started…
I can’t tell you how many times I read articles written by my fellow bloggers that don’t get the recognition or traffic they deserve. So, this weekend, I created a reddit account with the sole purpose of generating recognition and traffic for these very posts. For those not familiar with reddit, it is a social interaction website where one simply posts a link for others to stumble upon (ha) and enjoy. So, with your permission granted in the comment section below, please allow me to share your genius .
TIFF
In case you missed it, the Toronto International Film Festival announced another slew of films set to debut at the festival, with a little twist. All the films announced last week were created by Canadian filmmakers! You can check out the whole list of the films released last week by clicking here. And if that happens to catch your attention, by clicking on the TIFF button at the top of this page, you can check out every single film announced thus far. The Cinema Monster will be covering the entire festival so be sure to follow me on Twitter (@cinema_monster) and Facebook for up the minute news, reviews, and Q and A’s.
The Counselor Clips and New Trailer
Ridley Scott’s “The Counselor” released three clips and new trailer this past week. You can check them all out below.
Clip #1
Clip #2
Clip #3
Trailer #2
Thor: The Dark World trailer #2
“Thor: The Dark World” unleashed a new trailer upon us which you can watch below. People can claim that Thor is the man all the want, but I’ll take Tom Hiddleston’s Lotki any day.
Her trailer #1
Now, for a film that has skyrocketed to the top of my most anticipated list, Spike Jones “Her,” which released its first trailer this past week. Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Scarlett Johansson, Olivia Wilde, Amy Adams, and Chris Pratt. “Her” looks to be a quirky rom-com with no shortage of talent and bizarre android love.
Kill Your Darlings teaser
TIFF film”Kill Your Darlings” released its first teaser trailer. The film focuses on a murder that unites the most famous poets from the beat generation.
Philomena trailer #1
Finally, yet another film set to premiere at TIFF unveiled its first trailer this past week, “Philomena.” Starring Steve Coogan and Judi Dench, “Philomena” has all the makings of a sleeper hit at this years festivities.
That’ll do it for this week’s edition of The Gushing Cinephile. Make sure to keep an eye out for my “Elysium” review sometime this week and be sure to check out last week’s top 10, it’s a good one. Everyone have a great week!

Great post!
You can put my stuff out there if you feel like it : )
Be careful about putting your own stuff out there – those moderators can be real bastards!
Woo, looking forward to it!
So I’ve heard…Apparently you are allowed to post your own website or blog, etc…so long as you link other sites and keep self promotion below 10% of your posts. But in all seriousness, there are so many great write-ups, reviews, and articles by all of you that go unnoticed. It’s time to change that! Oh and thanks for reading
.
Sounds good!
And – of course, always –
Glad to see you join the Redditing masses! Can’t wait for HER.
Indeed, look forward to posting about The CK! Her looks terrific, should be a good one
.
Amazing post!
Want to thank you in advance for sharing my stuff on Reddit. I’ll make sure to do the same for you!
Looking forward to your TIFF coverage,
Very excited about all these Counselor clips and trailer. All are amazing. It’s definitely one of my most anticipated films. I really want to see Cameron Diaz absolutely KILL IT. I have a feeling she’ll be great in the movie.
Not excited about the new Thor, but I’ll still watch, mainly because of Loki, a character I can’t get enough of!
I’m already in love with “Her”. The premise is great and that cast is just mind-blowingly good!
Kill Your Darlings seems very interesting but Philomena really caught me off-guard and it’s now one of my most anticipated. Loved that trailer!
Well, thank you! I’m really looking forward to The Counselor, but I’m skeptical of Diaz. I’m not sure I fully trust her. I really enjoyed the first Thor and love Hiddleston so I’ll definitely be checking it out regardless. Her is going to be phenomenal, can’t get enough Joaquin Phoenix and Scar-Jo. I’ll be seeing Kill Your Darlings at TIFF so I’ll be sure to let you know, Philomena as well
.
Don’t fully trust her either but she can be good given the right material and, I don’t know, I just have a feeling she’ll be awesome in The Counselor.
Fair enough!
Sharing is always allowed!
Although those on Reddit are notoriously damning! It’s perfect for keeping one’s ego in check
Nice work man.
Sweet! Yeah, I’ve heard a lot of negativity surrounding reddit. Hopefully I can turn it around
.
Feel free to share any of my stuff on Reddit, if I ever manage to fumble my way to brilliance.
LOL, I’m sure you will
.
Share my stuff if you’d like!
The lineup for TIFF is getting quite impressive! its a pity I don’t live in Toronto. Kill the Darlings looks interesting!
Will do!
.
I know, this year’s TIFF is insane! can’t wait
Yup…makes the possibility of catching movies I want to see higher also. Imagine if I just went down to see one movie and it was sold out…haha!
Can’t wait to read about it
Well, thank you
. I hope you get to check out all the movies you want to see at TIFF!
I won’t..haha! I only have a weekend. If I’m lucky I’ll get to take off both Friday and the following Monday
We’ll see!
Good luck
.
I don’t understand this Reddit thing!
I basically just want permission to share your posts on reddit. It’ll give you a lot more traffic. I’m trying to share as much and hope people share mine as well. Essentially we are all helping each other out
.
Okay. Go ahead if you want but there’s certainly no “genius” to share from my site! Lol
I sure will and I’m.confident I’ll find something
.
I do get Twitter, though… I’ve become a damn Tweeting ADDICT! I must stop!!!
Same here, never used to tweet, but now find myself having too much fun
