Good review - I love Coogan's work and, while I've only seen a few of Winterbottom's films (24 Hour Party People and The Killer Inside Me, though the Tristram Shandy adaptation has been on my "gotta see" list for a while), you did a good job of summing up how this film decent even if it doesn't match the standards of the director's highlights.

Coogan is easily one of my all time favourite actors, so underrated. The Trip is a hidden gem. While this isn’t Winterbottom and company’s strongest, still worth the watch!

I loved Coogan in Winterbottom’s The Trip, such a funny, slightly dark film. And Paul Raymond had such an interesting, tumultuous life, great material for a film! I’m hoping The Look of Love will be great, but thank you for tempering my expectations so I don’t get too excited! :)
