The book it is based on is one of my top 2 Aussie books of all time.

Hail is disturbing for similar reasons to Snowtown in a way. Burning Man is something completely different and for me was just as hard to watch. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on both.

I’ll be sure to let you know if it’s any good when it is released :)

It’s okay, the unsettling films aren’t for everyone. The reason I watch them is to evoke emotions at both ends of the spectrum, I find it rewarding.

It was brilliantly made, a terrific look into the lives of the mentally unstable. I’ve never seen Hail or Burning Man, but will definitely check them out. Another Australian film that I love and is fairly disturbing is Wake In Fright. If you haven’t seen it, definitely check it out :) .

Im really looking forward to August: Osage County, Cumberbatch and Cooper look like they have some real chemistry. I’m fairly skeptical about the new Plane Of the Apes film up Jason Clarke is in it and I have really grown to like him. Anti-Christ is really disturbing, one of my favourite horrors :) .

As for nasty movies, I tend to avoid that kind of thing because, oh I don’t know, maybe I’m just a bit squeamish. However, I look back to hearing about your explorations into this area of cinema…

I found it very difficult to put my feelings on that film into words. I think it is fantastically made, but I can’t really recommend it to anyone as such.

I’m Australian, and probably the three films that spring to mind when thinking of really disturbing films (for quite different reasons) are all Australian – Snowtown, Burning Man and Hail.
