Wow, nine different films? That’s incredibly. I think it is safe to say that I’m really looking forward to your list lol. And yeah, totally agree with you, there were a bunch of great films released this past year. Seriously, I cannot wait to see your list :) .

I actually still haven’t posted mine (extremely late, I know), but I think I might put them up by the end of this week. Incredibly, despite liking the ones you liked, my list has nine different movies on it! I guess it just goes to show how many great movies there were last year.

I’d also recommend “Compliance” – although that one’s not for everyone. Quite a harrowing experience, but makes a pretty credible (and disturbing) point about human nature and authority.

Great list bud. I’ve still yet to check out Bernie, The Five Year Engagement, and The Imposter, but I’ll definitely watch them soon. I really enjoyed Cloud Atlas, awesome cast and Ben Whishaw was incredible in it. He is emerging as one of my favourite actors. The only reason I didn’t include The Raid is because I saw it in 2011, not 2012. Anyway, stop by again anytime!

Always glad to see someone new entering the film-blogging fray.

Here’s my Top 10, which, because I’m a troublemaker, always includes a #11:

11. The Five-Year Engagement (an effective romantic comedy – a rare enough distinction – which also benefited from extremely good timing, since I saw it a couple of weeks before my wedding)
10. The Raid: Redemption (will ruin you for other action films)
9. Bernie (a delightful small-town dark comedy)
8. The Cabin in the Woods (don’t need to tell you why)
7. Lincoln (politics and history, history and politics)
6. Looper (more Rian Johnson cleverness, and a fresh take on time travel)
5. Moonrise Kingdom (Wes Anderson is back on top)
4. Seven Psychopaths (the film in which Martin McDonagh beat Quentin Tarantino at his own game this year)
3. Life of Pi (a gorgeous and thoughtful film)
2. The Imposter (Just watch it. Don’t google it. Seriously.)
1. Cloud Atlas (my very own controversial choice)

If you’d like to see me defend these choices, check out my entry below:

Great list. The only film I don’t agree with is Les Miserables, I couldn’t stand it.

10. Zero Dark Thirty
9. Silver Linings Playbook
8. Beasts of the Southern Wild
7. Skyfall
6. The Dark Knight Rises
5. Lincoln
4. Argo
3. Life of Pi
2. Les Miserables
1. Django Unchained

Honorable Mentions: Flight, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and Looper

Yeah, I’m aware that I have 8 of the 9 best picture nominees on this list. I really thought the academy hit the nail on the head this year.
